2007: Brandon Zoetewey earned the starting spot at 125, accumulating a 17-13 overall record and a 5-2 mark in the Pac-10...went 3-2 and beat Cory Fish of Boise State to earn a fifth place finish in the Pac-10 Championships...two losses in conference dual meets were to eventual Pac-10 champ Tanner Gardner of Stanford and third place finisher Marcos Orozco of UC Davis.
2006: Brandon Zoetewey opened his collegiate career
with a solid 8-10 record while splitting time with fellow freshman
Zack Bigboy…missed becoming a placewinner by one match at his first
collegiate tournament at the California Open…went 2-2 at the Las Vegas
Invitational including an 11-0 win over Kellan McKeon of Duke…earned the
opportunity to compete for CSUB at the Midlands Championships as a freshman
and wrestled to a 1-2 record…went 2-3 in a series of duals in January…finished
second at the California Collegiate Invitational…won a pair of decisions before
dropping a match in the tournament final to teammate Bigboy.
DeLaSalle HS: Zoetewey was a four-year letter
winner at De La Salle HS…was a three-time Bay Valley Athletic
League champion and two-time CIF North Coast Section champion
for the Spartans…won the Junior National Greco championship
at 112 pounds in 2003.
