2006:Thomas Kimbrell opened his collegiate career with a quality .500 record for the Roadrunners…finished the season behind teammate and eventual NCAA qualifier Tommy Vargas but filled in for him throughout the season…like many of his teammates, he finished the season on a hot streak, going 5-0 in his final five matches…went 2-2 in his first collegiate tournament at the California Open and followed with a forfeit win against Portland State…missed becoming a placewinner at the Menlo College Invitational by one match after taking losses to the eventual third and fourth place finishers…filled in for Vargas during the bulk of the dual meet season by going 4-4 including a technical fall win over Eric Minnick of Stanford, a 10-4 win over Adam Hickey of Arizona State and a 7-6 victory against Virgil Lockett of San Francisco State, who entered the match ranked No. 7 in the nation at the NCAA Division II level and rode a 12-match win streak…finished his freshman season with a tournament victory at the California Collegiate Invitational.
