Dear Prospective Wrestler,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Cal State University, Bakersfield and our Division I wrestling program. I hope you have considered furthering your academic and wrestling careers at the collegiate level.

Our campus provides a personal educational experience in a number of fields. Cal State Bakersfield is distinguished by an outstanding faculty and excellent academic programs. The extraordinary accessibility of faculty to students provides close interaction between student and faculty to enhance the learning environment and experience for all our students. More than 90 percent of the tenured faculty hold doctorate degrees in their field of study.

We have an excellent year-round wrestling program with a long tradition of strong teams and individuals. The cornerstone of this reputation has been the hard work put forth by our student-athletes, both in practice and in the classroom. No other schoolin California has made the impact that Cal State Bakersfield wrestlers have had on both the national and international levels over the past thirty years.

Dr. Horace Mitchell is our new university president. Dr. Mitchell wrestled in college and has spent his 30-plus-year career
waiting to be at an institution that has his sport. His stated ten-year-goal is to make Cal State Bakersfield the best university in the California State University system.
