FULLERTON, Calif. – The CSUB wrestling team took a 9-0 deficit to Cal State Fullerton after two matches and was never able to recover in a 21-13 Pac-10 loss Sunday. The Roadrunners later bounced back for a 21-12 non-conference win over Menlo College, moving to 8-3 overall and 5-3 in league action.
Todd Noel opened action with a 9-6 decision over CSUB's Jason Points and No. 11 nationally-ranked Ian Murphy pinned Troy Goodban at 184 to give the Titans the early lead.
Riley Orozco, wrestling up a division at 197, claimed a 3-1 decision over John Drake to cut the deficit to 9-3, and after a CSUB loss in the the heavyweight match, Brandon Zoetewey's 11-3 decision over Andre Gonzalez brought the score to 12-6 in favor of CSUF. But the 'Runners won just two more matches in the dual – Elijah Nacita's 7-2 decision victory at 141 and Daniel Atondo's 13-5 major decision at 165.
In the second dual, CSUB got off to a strong start with wins by Trevor Hall (174), Points (184) and Garth Wara (197) to go up 12-0.
